Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 28)— Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz is set to receive additional incentives from President Rodrigo Duterte after her historic gold-medal performance in the Tokyo Olympics.

During Diaz's courtesy call Wednesday evening, Duterte said his office will shell out ₱3 million to reward the Olympic champion. This is on top of the ₱10 million she will get from the national government as stipulated in the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act.

"Three million galing sa akin, 10 million galing sa gobyerno talaga, ito Office of the President lang (Three million from me, 10 million from the government, this one is from the Office of the President alone)," Duterte told Diaz as he congratulated the athlete for her stellar feat.

The President also promised Diaz a house and lot in Zamboanga City — part of her perks as a member of the Philippine Air Force.

"Alam mo naman may mga housing projects ako (You know I have housing projects) for soldiers," Duterte said. "I'm going to give you one fully furnished...it's a house and lot in Zamboanga City."

Duterte added Diaz will also be a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Merit, which will be awarded to her in an "appropriate ceremony."

The 30-year-old pride of Zamboanga made history on Monday after clinching the Philippines' first Olympic gold medal, as she triumphed in the women's -55kg final.

Duterte advised Diaz to savor her victory and to "forget" all the disappointments and the bad things that may have happened in the past.

"I hope that the years of toil, the years of disappointments, and the years na hindi maganda nangyari (when bad things happened) in the past, just forget them. You already have the gold," Duterte said.

"And it would be good for you to just let bygones be bygones and dwell solely on your victory together with your family, and of course, with the nation," the President added.
