Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV on Thursday (May 5) filed a plunder complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman against presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

Trillanes claimed that Duterte has ghost employees that are on the payroll of the Davao City government.

The senator said based on 2015 Commission on Audit (COA) report, there were 11,000 ghost employees with a budget of P708 million.

Trillanes claimed this is Duterte's source of hidden wealth which he discovered in his bank accounts.

He also said he would file complaints against Duterte's children, Sara and Paolo.

Duterte's camp reacts

Duterte's legal counsel, Atty. Salvador Panelo, told CNN Philippines that Trillanes is "making a fool of himself."

Panelo also said that the COA report Trillanes is referring to "doesn't mean anything."

"Eh di sana nagdemanda na ang COA. Eh wala naman eh, ibig sabihin wala," he said.

On the cases that would be filed against Sara and Paolo Duterte, Panelo said this: "Let him file all the cases he has in mind and we will confront it when the time comes."
