CNN Philippines wins 6 Golden Dove Awards

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — It was a golden night for CNN Philippines as it picked up six awards from the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) during the 24th Golden Dove Awards on Friday evening (April 29).

CNN Philippines won awards for Best TV Public Service Announcement (Metro-Wide Earthquake Drill 2015), Best Special Program (The Story of the Filipino People: Yolanda), Best TV Magazine Program (Leading Women), Best Sports Program (Sports Desk), and Best TV Culture and Arts Program (What I See - Season 3).

Mitzi Borromeo also won the award for Best TV Newscaster.

Present during the event were Armie Jarin-Bennett, managing editor of CNN Philippines, and Alfonso "Pal" Marquez, vice president for News and Current Affairs.

Upon winning the award for Best Special Program, Jarin-Bennett said, "This is a very special award for CNN Philippines. When the network launched a year ago, we promised to uphold the high standards of CNN's journalism. We also promised to tell the story of the Filipino. On behalf of the staff of CNN Philippines, maraming salamat po!"

Marquez echoed Jarin-Bennett's statement, saying, "We vow to improve our storytelling and to tell the story of the Filipino."

After the ceremony, Jarin-Bennett posted a photo of the six awards received by the network, saying, "6 Golden Dove awards! Thank you KBP from all of us at CNN Philippines."

In another tweet, she said, "Thank you KBP! You have inspired us!"

The Golden Dove Awards are given by the KBP to honor the best of broadcast media.

On its website, it says it was established to "encourage excellence and high professional standards in the broadcast media as well as to promote more responsible broadcasting."
