Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 20) — It's time to say goodbye to Charice and hello to Jake Zyrus!

Filipino singer Charice is now using this moniker, after he changed his name on all his social media accounts last Sunday.

In Jake's first tweet since he changed his name and erased all Twitter posts, he thanked his fans for the support they've showed him.

"My first tweet as Jake. Overwhelmed. Saw all your love comments and I'm so happy. Finally. I love you, everyone and see you soon," he said.

"I won't let anyone ruin this moment. I won't let anyone ruin my happiness. Thank you to all the beautiful write ups about me," he added.

The 25-year old singer also deleted all but one post on his Instagram page.

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the love and respect. I love you back and I'm sending peace to everyone," it said.

Jake -- who gained popularity in 2005 as Charice Pempengco-- first opened up about his sexuality in 2013, when he revealed he was a lesbian.

In 2014, he debuted a new look, donning a shorter blonde cut and tattoos.

Since then, the singer has clarified in interviews that he identifies as a man, even landing himself the cover of magazine Mega Man's 2016 pride month issue.

Jake has also been taking a break from the spotlight after his break-up with girlfriend Alyssa Quijano in April.

While many netizens were shocked, the newly-named Jake Zyrus also enjoyed an outpouring of support from fans who welcomed the singer's new identity.

Fans replied to his tweets, saying he deserved to be happy and they will always support him.

Jake first entered the limelight as the small girl with a big voice when he joined a local singing competition in 2005.

His big break came after he impressed U.S. media mogul Oprah Winfrey on her show in 2008, paving the way for performances with renowned U.S. musician and record producer David Foster and a stint in TV show "Glee."
