Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 5) — They may be one of the world's most successful bands, but that didn't stop Coldplay from riding the humble Filipino jeepney to their concert on Tuesday.

Hours before their sold-out show, Coldplay surprised fans by arriving at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Concert Grounds in true Pinoy fashion-- on a jeep.

The British rock band, which is in Manila for their "A Head Full of Dreams" tour, was greeted by ecstatic fans, who instantly took to Twitter to share the news.

Coldplay lovers could not contain their glee at the sight of the British band boarding the country's trademark vehicle.

With a few minutes to spare before preparing for the concert, an energetic Chris Martin also hopped on a bike and roamed around the concert grounds.

The Coldplay frontman, who appeared very down-to-earth despite worldwide fame, biked casually at the venue and greeted fans as he passed them by.

Hours before the concert, Martin also visited a cancer-stricken fan at a hospital in Manila.

During the visit, Martin asked Coldplay fan Ken Valiant Santiago, who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, what song he wanted the band to play at the concert.
