Lav Diaz's 8-hour film 'Hele' to be shown in local cinemas on March 26

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Lav Diaz's award-winning film Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis (A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery) will be shown in Philippine cinemas on March 26.

Below are the cinemas that will show the film, complete with its screening time and ticket prices:

SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM City Sta. Mesa, SM Manila, SM Fairview- 12:30 p.m. (P400/ticket)

Robinsons Metro East, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Iloilo, Robinsons Bacolod- 1:20 p.m. (P300/ticket)

Glorietta, TriNoma- 1:20 p.m. (P500/ticket)

Market! Market and Fairview Terraces- 1:20 p.m. (P400/ticket)

Set during the revolution against the Spaniards, Hele features interconnected narrative threads of Philippine history, literature, and mythology.

The 8-hour film received the Silver Bear Alfred Bauer Prize at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival. The award is given to a feature film that "opens new perspectives on cinematic art."

Hele stars John Lloyd Cruz, Piolo Pascual, Cherie Gil, Angel Aquino, Alessandra De Rossi, and Ely Buendia, among others.

In an earlier interview, Diaz told CNN Philippines that the film took 17 years to make.

He said he wrote the script in 1998, but it took a while to find the right people to back the project.
