Gin Kings extend series after registering a 80-72 victory over the top seeded TNT Ka Tropa.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 30) — Barangay Ginebra lives to fight another day.

The Gin Kings escaped with a 80-72 victory over TNT KaTropa on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Ginebra had a good start and led by 10 points at the end of the first half even if import Justin Brownlee was limited offensively.

The reigning best import had his lowest scoring output in the conference finished with just 14 points. But he made his presence felt on the defensive end as he guarded TNT import Terrence Jones for majority of the contest.

Brownlee also fell short of a triple-double with 11 rebounds and eight assists.

Ginebra is the defending champions of the Commissioner’s Cup.

“We played with a never say die attitude,” Brownlee said after surviving the elimination game.

LA Tenorio topscored for the Gin Kings with 16 points, while Joe Devance added 13 markers.

Jones paced TNT with had a game-high 24 points but he struggled with his shooting. As a team, struggled from the outisde connecting on just five of their 34 attempts from beyond the arc.

Game 4 of the series will be played on Thursday at the Araneta Coliseum.
