Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 23) — Japanese coach Takayuki Minowa will call the shots for the neophyte Premier Volleyball League (PVL) team Nxled Chameleons.

Minowa was the former assistant coach of Saitama Ageo Medics in the Japan V. League, where he met his now wife Filipino volleyball superstar Jaja Santiago.

He was also the assistant coach of the Japanese national team that bagged the championship in the 2022 AVC Women's Volleyball Cup.

"The arrival of the decorated coach will definitely level up the skills of the Chameleons as he brings in a Japanese system that is proven advantageous in the volleyball world," said Akari Sports in a statement on Saturday.

The Nxled Chameleons will make their debut in the upcoming PVL All-Filipino Conference in October.

The team will banner some former players from its sister team Akari Chargers, including Lycha Ebon, Jho Maraguinot, and Dani Ravena.
