Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 17) — Stephen Holt was chosen as the top overall pick by Terrafirma Dyip in the PBA Season 48 Draft held at the Market! Market! in Taguig City on Sunday.

The 6-foot-4 Filipino-American is a product of Saint Mary's College of California and has played professionally in the NBA G-League, Europe, and Australia.

"I'm a two-way player and I'm committed to play both offensively and defensively. I'm known as a shooter, and I will try to make an impact," Holt said via Zoom, adding playing in the PBA is one of his goals.

The 31-year-old guard was unable to attend the event and the PBA Draft Combine mini-tournament as he is still staying in Portland, Oregon to take care of his wife and newborn baby.

In an interview with CNN Philippines' Sports Desk on Wednesday, Holt said he cannot wait to come to Manila and that he is excited to "take this next step in my long basketball journey."

"Whoever drafts me, they're gonna get a guy that's gonna work hard, be a great teammate and hopefully can make an impact on and off the court," he added.

Seventy-nine out of 124 rookie hopefuls were drafted, while the remaining 45 became free agents. The PBA Season 48 will start on Nov. 5.

Filipino-foreign players dominated the first round, with Blackwater drafting Fil-Canadian wingman Christian David for the second overall pick.

Rain or Shine chose Luis Villegas and Keith Datu as third and fourth overall selections, while NorthPort called up former University of the Philippines standout Zavier Lucero.

Phoenix plucked Kenneth Tuffin, who has New Zealand experience, at number 6, NLEX drafted Richard Rodger, and then Meralco filled in its roster with Brandon Bates.

Converge selected former La Salle Green Archer Schonny Winston and former Ateneo Blue Eagle BJ Andrade for the ninth and tenth picks.
