Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 6) — After nearly a decade, Hans Michael Weiss is back as head coach of the Philippine Azkals.

"We are delighted to welcome coach Weiss back to the PHI MNT," Philippine Football Federation (PFF) president Nonong Araneta said in a statement Tuesday, referring to the Philippine Men's National Team.

"He has kept the Philippines close to his heart and continues to be a well-respected figure by players and staff," he added.

Weiss steered the Azkals to a third place finish in the AFC Challenge Cup in 2012, and a semifinal appearance in the AFF Championship that same year.

In 44 appearances, he tallied 21 wins, 12 losses, and 11 draws with the Azkals.
