Bernadeth Pons returns to indoor volleyball with Creamline Cool Smashers
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 2) — Bernadeth Pons will make her return to the taraflex as she signed with the Creamline Cool Smashers after four years of playing in the sand.
Creamline opposite hitter Michele Gumabao on Friday shared on Instagram snippets of the team's welcome for Pons. The development was later confirmed by the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
"Pons now finds herself in the company of volleyball luminaries as she joins the star-studded Creamline squad. The Cool Smashers, fresh off a triumphant championship run in the All-Filipino Conference earlier this year, have significantly bolstered their ranks with Pons' arrival," said PVL in a statement.
The 26-year-old outside hitter is expected to help Alyssa Valdez, Tots Carlos, and Jia Morado in Creamline's title defense in the upcoming PVL Invitational Conference in June.
Pons last played indoor volleyball in 2019 with the multi-titled Petron Blaze Spikers in the now-defunct Philippine Super Liga.
She later focused on beach volleyball and brought home bronze medals from the Southeast Asian Games in 2019 and 2022.
Pons is a product of Far Eastern University, where she played in both indoor and beach volleyball tournaments of the UAAP.
In 2018, she steered the FEU Lady Tamaraws to their first finals appearance in UAAP indoor volleyball after nine years.
