Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 25)— The Philippine women’s national football team has reached yet another milestone as it logged its highest FIFA ranking thus far.

The Filipinas climbed to World No. 49 in the latest list released by the federation on Friday — up four spots from their previous record No. 53 which they achieved last year.

The team also rose to ninth place in the Asian rankings.

The development comes ahead of the squad’s much-awaited debut at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup which will kick off in July.

The Filipinas will play in Group A of the contest — with New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland.
