Tennis: Alex Eala handed wildcard entry for Miami Open

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 15) — Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala is set to return to the Miami Open.

Eala clinched a wildcard entry for the main draw of the WTA tournament this year, which will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida from March 19 to April 2.

She was among the 22 players who were handed the final wildcards for the tourney.

Eala first saw action in the prestigious Miami Open in 2021, when she was granted a wildcard slot for the singles' qualifying draw.

She then made her main draw debut in the tournament in 2022.

The Filipino athlete is currently ranked No. 220 in the WTA ladder.
