Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 6) — The Philippine national women's volleyball will replace Japan's Kobe Shinwa Women's University as guest team in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.

In a statement, the league said a member of the Japanese squad tested positive for COVID-19, and the rest of the players were close contacts.

The Philippine team will be composed of young guns from the UAAP--led by twelve players from reigning champion National University Lady Bulldogs.

The team will also represent the country in the upcoming Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup for Women from August 21-29.

Meanwhile, another guest team--Taiwan's Taipei King Whales--arrived in the country Saturday morning, the PVL said.

The four local clubs currently in the running for the championship are the Creamline Cool Smashers, Cignal HD Spikers, PLDT High Speed Hitters, and Army Black Mamba Lady Troopers. They will compete against the two guest teams starting next week.
