Kai Sotto to play for Gilas in fourth window of FIBA World Cup qualifiers

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 10) — Kai Sotto will be suiting up for Gilas Pilipinas for the fourth window of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers.

"We are glad to have Kai into the Gilas fold and thank him for his proactive response to the call to play for flag and country for the August qualifiers," Sonny Barrios, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas executive director and spokesperson, said in a statement Wednesday.

The 7-foot-3 cager, who recently signed a fresh deal with the Adelaide 36ers in Australia after being left out of the NBA Draft, is set to arrive in the country on Aug. 18.

Sotto joins NBA star Jordan Clarkson, Japan B.League players Thirdy and Kiefer Ravena, Dwight Ramos, and Bobby Ray Parks Jr. together with UP Fighting Maroons standout Carl Tamayo, La Salle's Kevin Quiambao, and Francis Lopez in the pool which will later be reinforced by PBA players.

Gilas begins its FIBA World Cup qualifiers fourth window campaign against Lebanon on Aug. 25 in Beirut and Saudi Arabia on Aug. 29 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
