(CNN Philippines, July 1) — Gilas Pilipinas absorbed a tough 106-60 loss to New Zealand in the third window of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers Thursday in Auckland.

New Zealand pounced on the undermanned Gilas from the get-go and led by 26 points at the halftime break.

Carl Tamayo was the only bright spot for the Philippines as he led the team with 16 points and five rebounds. However, the University of the Philippines standout sprained his ankle with 7:50 left in the match and did not return for the remainder of the contest.

Rhenz Abando chipped in 11 points for Gilas which had no answer to counter New Zealand's relentess offense.

Dion Prewster led the balanced attack of New Zealand with 15 points, while Finn Delany contributed 14 points.

New Zealand remains unbeaten in four outings while the Philippines fell to 1-2 in the Group A standings.

Gilas will host India at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on July 3.
