RSG PH sweeps RRQ Hoshi to win MSC title
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 19) — The country sealed its quest for back-to-back titles in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup with a dominating performance from RSG Philippines.
They swept the Indonesian team RRQ Hoshi, 4-0, in the best-of-seven grand finals of the Southeast Asia Cup Sunday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Facing great disadvantage for most of the opening match, RSG Philippines turned things around with a wipeout in the 28th minute to draw first blood.
Just like in the first game, RSG clawed its way back, thanks to the backline tactics of Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo to keep RRQ Roshi winless.
It was Dylan "Light" Catipon's turn to show the way for RSG during crucial pick-offs in the third match as the Philippines established a commanding 3-0 series advantage.
On the brink of winning the championship, RSG made quick work of RRQ Hoshi in the fourth game to secure the title.
RSG's Emman “Emann” Sangco was hailed the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
With the rousing victory, RSG will be taking home the lion’s share of the $300,000 (about ₱15 million) prize pool.
The now-defunct Execration, whose core players are currently playing for Smart Omega Esports, bagged last year's Southeast Asia Cup crown.
