Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 14) – It was a productive day for the Philippine women’s artistic gymnastics squad in the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Saturday at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace.

The six-woman Philippine gymnastics team clinched the gold medal in the team event after scoring a total of 184.50 points.

The team is composed of Chiara Andrews, Ancilla Lucia Manzano, Lucia Gutierrez, Kursten Lopez, Ma. Cristina Loberanes, and Aleah Finnegan.

The silver medal went to host country Vietnam, who tallied a close total score of 183.80 points. Singapore won the bronze medal after finishing with 182.55 points.

It was a double celebration for Finnegan, a former member of the United States national gymnastics team, as she bagged the silver medal in the women’s individual all-around category.

Finnegan scored 49.25 points, closely behind gold medalist Rifda Irfanaluthfi of Indonesia who got 49.65 points. Malaysia’s Rachel Li Wen Yeoh secured the bronze with a score of 48.55 points.

The Philippine gymnastics team now has a total of two golds and two silvers in the 31st SEA Games. World champion Carlos Yulo topped the men’s individual all-around event and led the six-man squad who copped the silver in the men’s team event.
