Gilas 3x3 men's team settles for bronze, women's squad placed 4th in SEAG

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 14) – The Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 men's squad settled for bronze medal while the women's team placed fourth in the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Saturday at the Thanh Tri Gymnasium.

The men’s team beat Indonesia, 14-10, for the bronze medal while the women’s squad goes home without a medal after being outmatched by Indonesia and losing by six, 10-16.

Both Gilas 3x3 teams were beaten by Thailand in the semifinals to kiss their gold medal hopes goodbye.

The Gilas men’s 3x3 team is represented by PBA 3x3 first conference champions Limitless Appmasters, comprising of Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, Jorey Napoles, Reymar Caduyac, and Marvin Hayes. The team finished second in pool play with a 4-2 slate.

The Filipina dribblers, with Janine Pontejos, Afril Bernardino, Clare Castro, and Angel Surada, barely made it to the semifinals with a 3-3 record.

Thailand and Vietnam went on to win the two golds and silvers at stake in the 31st SEA Games 3x3 competition.

The 5x5 basketball action will start on Monday.
