Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 26) – Filipino mixed martial arts fighter Denice Zamboanga finally gets her wish to have a rematch with South Korean rival Ham Seo Hee.

"I can't explain the excitement! This is what I have been waiting for even after our first fight," said Zamboanga.

ONE Championship announced on Tuesday the much anticipated rematch between the two prolific atomweight fighters of the Singapore-based MMA organization.

The Zamboanga-Ham rematch is one of the fights lined up for ONE: X, the event which celebrates the tenth anniversary of the MMA outfit headed by Chatri Sityotdong.

Zamboanga and Ham first met each other in the octagon in the ONE Women's Atomweight World Grand Prix quarterfinals last Sept. 3, which was part of ONE Championship's first all-female event ONE: Empower.

Zamboanga suffered a controversial split decision loss against Ham, despite the Filipina fighter's more superior grappling skills during the bout than her South Korean foe's passive striking game.

Sityodtong even intervened and elevated the match to the ONE competition committee, which upheld the decision on the fight.

"I'm okay now and I've moved on from that decision. I'm using that to push myself to train more," Zamboanga said.

Zamboanga, who is ranked the no. 2 contender for the ONE women's atomweight title, underscored the importance of her fight with Ham as she could get a shot against the winner of the bout between defending champion Angela Lee and ONE Women's Atomweight World Grand Prix champion Stamp Fairtex.

The Lee-Fairtex title showdown is also one of the fights in ONE: X, set on March 26 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

"This fight is really important for me because all of the athletes here dream to become a champion. And I can say that this match will be a stepping stone for me to finally be given a chance to challenge the champion," said Zamboanga.

The fighter out of Marrok Force MMA stable promised to showcase some new skills in her rematch with Ham.

"You will see how much I have improved since the last time I fought inside the ONE Circle. I can't put it into words, but you will see the leveled up version of me: one who is more feisty and will definitely be eyeing for a finish," she said.

The Filipino fighter also known as the "Lycan Queen" holds an 8-1 win-loss record, while the South Korean standout nicknamed "Arale Chan" touts a 24-8 slate.
