Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 2) — Filipino golfer Yuka Saso reached another milestone in her career as she moved up to number six — her highest yet — in the latest world rankings released on Monday.

Saso jumped three places higher and accumulated 203.20 total points behind Lydia Ko of New Zealand who garnered 306.36 points.

Tokyo 2020 Olympics gold medalist Nelly Korda of the U.S. remains at top spot with 485.31 points. South Korea's Jin Young Ko (395.67 points), Inbee Park (360.29 points), and Sei Young Kim (381.72 points) occupy the next three spots.

The 20-year-old Saso, the first Filipino to win a major tournament after bagging the 2021 U.S. Women's Open, recently placed joint 39th in the AIG Women’s Open.

Saso was among the 19 Filipino athletes who saw action in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She finished at joint ninth place in the women's individual stroke event.

Meanwhile, fellow local golfer Bianca Pagdanganan stayed at No. 176 in the world rankings.
