Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 30) – The Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots and TNT Tropang Giga extended their unbeaten slates in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup on Friday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

In the first game, Magnolia displayed a dominating performance against Terrafirma Dyip, 105-83, to solidify their hold on top of the team standings with a 4-0 record.

Six Magnolia players scored in double figures to keep their perfect slate in the conference.

Ian Sangalang led the way with 18 points, while rookie Jerrick Ahanmisi flashed his known scoring form since college as he raked up 15 points.

"Actually hinihintay talaga namin breakout game ni Jerrick for the last three games dahil maganda ang ensayo and attitude niya," said Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero. "Talagang binibigyan niya ng oras yung shooting niya,"

[Translation: Actually we were awaiting Jerrick's breakout for the last three game because he trains well and has a good attitude. He always gives time to train on his shooting.]

The Hotshots dominated the game from the start, leading 61-39 in halftime, but the Dyip trimmed their deficit to single digits, 61-69, towards the final stretch of the third canto.

Magnolia made sure Terrafirma will have no room for comeback in the final quarter as they staged a scoring run to hike their lead to its highest at 26 points, 94-68, at the 5:29 mark.

Mark Barroca added 16 points for the Hotshots while Calvin Abueva chipped in 14 points to assert their dominance in the league.

Roosevelt Adams' 25 point-production went for naught as Terrafirma failed to win in their last four games.

Meanwhile, TNT Tropang Giga returned to court after almost two weeks with a 79-69 win over Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

RR Pogoy and Troy Rosario led TNT's offensive attack with 13 points apiece as they came back with a victory after undergoing quarantine due to four Tropang Giga players who "returned tests that were either positive for COVID-19 or needs to be confirmed" last July 20

TNT shot 43% in the field while limiting Rain or Shine to just 34% field goal percentage as the players of coach Chot Reyes did not relinquish their lead and tally their second straight win in as many games.

Javee Mocon scored 22 points for the Elasto Painters, who lost their second straight game after posting a 3-0 start.
