Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 12) – Filipino weightlifter Elreen Ando became the country's 11th athlete to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics after clinching the continental quota slot.

In the latest International Weightlifting Federation rankings released on Saturday, Ando ranked 12th in the world in the women's 64kg division.

The Cebuana native was granted the continental quota slot for being the second best Asian lifter in her division, behind Chinese Taipei's Chen Wen-Huei, who ranked 7th in the world. This was also confirmed to CNN Philippines by Samahang Weighlifting ng Pilipinas President Monico Puentevella.

Ando joins 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz, who will compete in the women's 55kg bracket, in the roster of Tokyo Olympians for the Philippines.

In the last Asian Weightlifting Championships, Ando took home three medals in the women's 64kg final. She won silver medals in the clean and jerk event and total score, while settling for a bronze in the snatch category.
