Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 10) - Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao has started his training camp for his next fight, the boxer-turned-senator tweeted on Wednesday.

"Training camp has begun. I'm ready to get back in the ring and to further add to my legacy in the sport of boxing," said Pacquiao in his tweet.

The Filipino boxing icon did not state his next opponent but hints to wait for the "big news coming soon."

Pacquiao's last fight was in July 2019 when he won via split decision against American Keith Thurman for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Welterweight title.

Last January 30, the WBA decided to strip Pacquiao of the super welterweight crown after failing to defend it for more than a year.

Pacquiao earlier confirmed a match with UFC superstar Conor McGregor in 2021, although details are still being finalized.

Last month, American boxing star Ryan Garcia teased through his social media page that he would be facing the boxer-turned-senator, but Pacquiao's camp said boxing is not the lawmaker's priority now amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
