Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 24) — In a duel between the top two teams, Blacklist International emerged victorious after outplaying Onic Philippines in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 grand finals.

Blacklist successfully defended its MPL title with a 4-1 win over Onic in the best-of-seven championship match Sunday.

While Onic got the better end of a tradeoff in a skirmish during the latter part of the first game, Blacklist's signature "ultimate bonding experience" strategy proved to be lethal as it cruised to a 1-0 series lead.

As the action heated up, Marky “Markyyyyy” Capacio delivered a masterful performance using Natan with a crucial triple kill, which was the turning point for Onic as it tied the score at one game apiece.

It was the turn of Danerie James "Wise" del Rosario (Bane) and Kiel "Oheb" Soriano (Lunox) to step up for Blacklist in the third match, exchanging double kills to carry Blacklist to a 2-1 edge.

With the momentum on its side, Blacklist dominated Onic with a 17-0 shutdown in the fourth game to establish a commanding 3-1 series advantage.

Blacklist did not let anything to chance as it played the aggressor role in the fifth match en route to its second straight championship.

Regular season Most Valuable Player Salic "Hadji" Imam of Blacklist was named the grand finals MVP.

Blacklist becomes the second team in MPL history to win back-to-back titles following Sunsparks' feat in Season 4 and 5.
