Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 20) — Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo clinched three chances for gold at the 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Japan as he delivered an impressive outing in the qualifiers on Wednesday.

Yulo advanced to the finals of three events - parallel bars, vault apparatus, and floor exercise - where he is the defending world champion.

Yulo topped the floor and parallel bars qualification events, tallying scores of 15.166 and 15.566, respectively. He placed third in vault apparatus after registering 14.808.

The gymnast made history in 2019 after capturing the Philippines' first ever gold in the world championships.
