(CNN Philippines, March 31) — Filipino-American cager Remy Martin has declared he is joining this year's National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft.

The 21-year-old player announced his decision to make the pro jump on his official Instagram account Tuesday.

"Starting from a young age, I have worked towards the opportunity to play in the NBA," he said in the post, which included a Philippine flag and the hashtag "pamilya."

The 6-foot guard played for the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Pac-12 Conference of the NCAA Division I tournament. He was named to the Pac-12 Second Team in 2019 and was the Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year as a freshman.

"I have now decided to take another step into making my dream a reality," he said. "I will forever cherish the time I spent at ASU; Arizona will always be a home to me," he said in the same social media post.

Martin's mother Mary Ann Macaspac is Filipina. If drafted, he will be the second Filipino-American guard in the NBA after Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz.

Martin was included in the Gilas Pilipinas '23 for 23' pool by then head coach Chot Reyes, and was also considered to be part of the national squad in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
