UAAP: Ateneo's Angelo Kouame named Press Corps Player of the Week

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 30) — The Ateneo Blue Eagles swept the first round of the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament.

One player in particular has been the difference in the Blue Eagles' dominance halfway through the elimination phase — Angelo Kouame.

With his consistent numbers for the Katipunan-based squad, the big man from Ivory Coast has been chosen as the Chooks-to-Go Collegiate Press Corps UAAP Player of the Week.

In Ateneo's last two games, Kouame averaged 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds (eight at the offensive end), and five blocks.

The 6-foot-11 is also one of the early contenders in the Most Valuable Player race with 81.43 statistical points, trailing to the frontrunner Soulemane Chabi Yo of University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers who has 82.71 statistical points.

The Blue Eagles will open their second round campaign versus the Growling Tigers on October 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
