The Barangay Ginebra big man will beef up the national team’s frontline in the biennial sports meet.

(CNN Philippines, December 3) — Greg Slaughter will replace RR Pogoy in the Gilas Pilipinas’ 12-man roster for the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

According to the Philippine Basketball Association website, Gilas head coach Tim Cone has included the 7-foot stalwart as Pogoy has been ruled out of the regional sports meet after being diagnosed with a bulging disc.

Cone said Slaughter’s addition will be announced during the SEA Games Managers’ Meeting later today.

Slaughter is coming off a thumb injury which sidelined him for two weeks.

Slaughter has represented the country in the SEA Games back in 2011 in Jakarta, Indonesia where they won gold.

The Philippines is gunning for its fifth straight men's basketball gold in the tournament.

The inclusion of Slaughter will bolster Gilas's frontline that includes June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Christian Standhardinger, Troy Rosario, and Vic Manuel.

The national squad will face Singapore in the opener on December 4 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
