'Ester' still affecting communities across Bicol region

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 30) — Tropical Depression Ester continues to affect residents in Bicol, especially those in low-lying, flood-prone areas, according to the region's Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

As of 8 p.m. Saturday, the agency said ten families from two barangays in Mobo, Masbate were evacuated while 14 more from Guinobatan, Albay were affected by flooding.

OCD Bicol spokesperson Gremil Alexis Naz said ten houses were totally damaged in two barangays in Mobo, Masbate while another 23 were partially damaged.

He added that floods were also monitored in Nabua, Baao and Buhi in Camarines Sur. Some roads and bridge sections remain impassable in these areas.

The OCD report also showed landslides and lahar flow in Albay.

The spillway in Brgy. Iyagan in Baao going to San Vicente, Ocampo, Camarines Sur was also damaged.
