Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 13) — A Vietnamese-flagged vessel ran aground in waters off Antique province on its way to Davao City to deliver rice, the Philippine Coast Guard said Thursday.

Coast Guard personnel inspected the vessel, MV Globe 6, for damage that could cause a harmful oil spill.

The vessel was grounded between Nagubat Island and Liwagao Island in Antique Thursday morning.

The officer on duty was asleep when the incident happened, the PCG said, quoting Captain Nguyen Hoai.

The MV Globe 6 had 25 crew members on board and was carrying rice from Ho Chi Minh City.
