Baguio City logs record-high COVID-19 cases, recoveries in a single day

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 13) – Baguio City logged on Thursday record-high numbers in new COVID-19 infections and recoveries.

There are 25 new COVID-19 cases recorded, bringing the total number of infections to 214 with 89 active cases, according to the Baguio City Public Information Office,

A record-high 10 recoveries were also reported, pushing the number of survivors to 119. The COVID-19 death toll in the city still stands at six.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong assured that the city’s contact tracing teams are working double time to expedite contact identification, tracing, isolation, quarantine, disinfection, and medical protocols.

The local government unit will soon issue lockdown orders as soon as validations have been completed, the mayor also said.

As of Thursday, the country has a total of 147,526 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 74,713 active infections. A total of 2,426 persons have died and 70,387 individuals have recovered.
