Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 20) — An inmate of the Cebu City has died from COVID-19.

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella on Monday confirmed the death of the 47-year-old male inmate, adding he was the sixth COVID-19 fatality in the city.

Labella said the inmate complained of difficulty in breathing and was rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center on Saturday. He died at the hospital on Sunday.

Contact tracing is being conducted inside the jail facility and an investigation is also being done to determine how the inmate got infected with the virus.

Labella added mass testing will be conducted at the Cebu City Jail following the inmate's death. He also said that a building within the Cebu City Jail is being prepared as isolation facility.
