Bacolod City (CNN Philippines, February 21)— In sickness and in health, 220 couples in Bacolod City made their vows in a mass wedding on Thursday amid the threat of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Following the call of the Department of Health (DOH) to avoid no-contact gestures among lovers, nothing stopped the participating couples to express their love for each other as they were required to wear face masks during the wedding ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center

The couples were also required to fill out health declaration forms, stating their health status and travel history in the past 14 days as part of the government’s health preventive measure.

The DOH, along with the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of Tourism, advised that it would be safe to organize and attend public events in the country, as long as precautionary measures were in place.

CNN Philippines’ Vince Ferreras and stringer Shiela Gelera contributed to this report.
