2 Cordillera police officers tagged as suspects in headless cadaver probe
Baguio City (CNN Philippines, December 16) — Two members of the Cordillera police regional office were identified as suspects in the killing of a Baguio City resident whose headless body was found in November.
Col. Allen Rae Co, chief of Baguio Police, disclosed this on Wednesday in a media interview.
“We were able to identify (the suspects)," Co said. "Sadly, they are police officers assigned in the regional office… sa drug enforcement unit.”
Co said the victim, identified as Harjan Lagman, was a 25-year-old man whose beheaded remains were recovered on Nov. 12 along Labey-Lacamen Road in Sitio Golan Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet.
Police said Lagman, who worked as a driver, was abducted on Nov. 11 in Baguio City. His body was found the next day with a black shirt wrapped around his neck.
Co said the suspects, whom he did not name, were already disarmed and under restrictive custody of the regional office.
The city police director said the documentation process is ongoing for the eventual filing of cases against the suspects. He said it is an isolated incident, but the motive for the crime remains unknown.
“We would like to condole with the (Lagman) family," Co said. "Of course, right from the start… we were committed to solve the crime regardless of who was the perpetrator.”
