Magnitude 5.4 earthquake hits Ilocos Norte

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 6) — A 5.4 magnitude earthquake jolted Ilocos Norte and nearby provinces on Monday morning, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology initially put the earthquake's magnitude at 5.8 but later downgraded it to magnitude 5.4.

It recorded the epicenter west of Pagudpud town in Ilocos Norte at 10:48 a.m.

A strong Intensity 5 was felt in Pasuquin town in Ilocos Norte and Tuguegarao. Intensity 4 was also recorded in Paoay, Ilocos Norte.

Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks. No damage or casualties have been reported as of posting.
