6.1 magnitude quake strikes Sarangani
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — A magnitude 6.1 earthquake hit Sarangani, Davao Occidental at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday (September 2), according to the latest earthquake bulletin of Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The earthquake struck 155 kilometers southwest of Sarangani.
According to Phivolcs, the tremor was tectonic and had a depth of 312 km.
A tsunami warning was not issued. However, officials are expecting aftershocks.
As of this posting, there are no details if the earthquake caused any damage to Sarangani or if there are casualties.
