Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 6) — Canada booked the last semifinals ticket of the 2023 FIBA World Cup after beating Slovenia, 100-89, Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Canada with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.

Canada pulled away, unleashing a 30-point outburst, in the third quarter after a 50-50 halftime deadlock.

It was a disappointing night for Filipino fans when Luka Doncic was ejected from the match after being slapped with his second technical foul in the 6:37 mark of the final frame due to overcomplaining to the referees.

Canada will face Serbia in the semis on Sept. 8, while Slovenia is relegated to the classification round against Lithuania.

RJ Barrett chipped in 24 points and nine rebounds for Canada.

Doncic tallied 26 points, five assists, and four rebounds for Slovenia.
