Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 30) --- More than 1,500 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) are being moved to Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan and Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Occidental Mindoro, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

In a statement, the BuCor said that additional 450 PDLs from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) and Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) were escorted onto a commercial vessel on Saturday.

Of the new transferees, 396 are from NBP’s medium security compound, four from the maximum security compound, and 50 from the CIW.

BuCor chief Gregorio Catapang said the inmates are expected to arrive in Puerto Princesa, Palawan at noon on Oct. 1.

The “Oplan Lipatan” is in preparation for the conversion of the 357-hectare property covered by the state penitentiary into a commercial hub after five years.
