Valenzuela City warehouse fire displaces 218 families, injures 9
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 29) -- Up to 218 families have been displaced while nine people were reported injured due to the hours-long fire that hit a hardware warehouse in Valenzuela City, the local government said on Friday.
Valenzuela City Command, Control and Communication Center officials confirmed the fire hit a storage facility of Herco Trading in Brgy. Bagbaguin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, then spread to nearby industrial and residential areas.
The fire reached "Task Force Bravo" alarm level at 3: 40 p.m. Thursday.
As of late afternoon Friday, the fire was described by the city's fire station as under control but has yet to be completely put out. It said 42 fire trucks responded to the blaze.
Eight fire fighter and a civilian suffered minor lacerations and burns, the fire station's report added.
The city government's report on the number of fire victims in evacuation centers showed Pedro L. Santiago Elementary school with 117 families, Canumay East Covered Court with 41 families, Mariano Elementary School with 26 families, and Paso de Blas 3S Center Multi-Purpose Hall with 31 families,
Also in Valenzuela City, another industrial fire broke out Friday morning in a building named Virces General Construction Company at Canumay West. Officials declared that blaze under control two hours after it broke out.
