Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 28) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the creation of an inter-agency panel that will oversee preparations for the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR), which the Philippines will host next year.

The administrative order stating that the Philippines accepted hosting the 10th session of the conference mandates the creation of an inter-agency committee that will “oversee preparatory and organizing activities.”

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the order on Sept. 26.

Members of the committee are yet to be revealed.

The panel has a little over a year left to administer the requirements as well as create and carry out plans, programs, and activities for the APMCDRR, slated in October 2024.

All government agencies, departments, bureaus, and offices, along with local government units, are directed to assist and cooperate with the inter-agency panel.

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Asia-Pacific Region is primarily promoted through the APMCDRR.

It aims to significantly decrease disaster risk and losses in various aspects of life, livelihoods, health, and economic assets over the next 15 years.
