Socorro group: 'Senior Agila' a composer, not Sto. Nino's reincarnation
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 20) — The alleged cult in Surigao del Norte on Wednesday denied the allegation that one of its members is being treated as the reincarnation of the Sto. Nino or the child Jesus.
In a privilege speech on Monday, Sen. Risa Hontiveros revealed that a cult is hiding behind the group Socorro Bayanihan Services, Inc. (SBSI) and is involved in various illegal activities that harmed over a thousand children. She also said a certain Jey Rence Quilario, also called "Senior Agila," was being groomed to be the next "Messiah" and was declared as the reincarnation of the Sto. Niño.
Speaking to CNN Philippines' The Source, SBSI Vice President Mamerto Galanida denied such claims.
"Tinatawag s'yang Senior Agila kasi 'yung ang screen name n'ya, sya ay isang composer, member ng FILSCAP," he explained, referring to the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc.
[Translation: He is called Senior Agila because that is his screen, he is a composer and a member of FILSCAP.]
Galanida also said Quilario has produced 200 songs which are available online like YouTube. However, a quick search on the platform did not show any result.
FILSCAP confirmed in an email that it has records of a Jey Rence Quilario or "Senior Agila.”
“We confirm that we have a member of the same name. However, we are not certain at this time if he is the same person involved in the controversy,” it noted.
