Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 8) – Casket of the voice actor JM Canlas, younger brother of actors Jerom and Elijah Canlas, who recently passed away was donated to a 17-year-old boy who was mistakenly killed by the police last Aug 2.

“Ang galing mo talaga JM! [You're really great JM!]. Jm donated his casket to Jerhode Jemboy Baltazar, also 17 years old—an EJK (extrajudicial killings) victim,” his older brother Jerom wrote in a Facebook post.

The post also called for justice for Baltazar.

The teenage boy was shot and killed by cops while he and his friend were cleaning the boat that they used for work. The incident happened during the police's search for a wanted suspect.

“The police officers failed to positively identify the target and immediately opened fire on the two youngsters on the boat,” the post read.

“When the shooting stopped, the police officers did not even bother to verify or retrieve the boy who fell into the water and kept onlookers at bay,” it added.

After the incident, the police admitted that they mistakenly identified Baltazar as a murder suspect.

Speaking to CNN Philippines' Balitaan on Wednesday, Navotas City police chief Col. Allan Umipig said administrative complaints were also filed against the involved police officers, who are currently detained.

In a statement on Tuesday, Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo said he has directed the District Internal Affairs Service in the Northern Police District to investigate Baltazar’s death.

“As of this press release, the District Internal Affairs Service is already at the pre-charge investigation phase. At this stage, the IAS studies the charges to prosecute,” the statement read.
