Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 31) — Local government officials have declared class and work suspension on Friday, Sept. 1 due to rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat, enhanced by Super Typhoon Saola (locally named Goring) and Severe Tropical Storm Hanna.

Malacañang earlier suspended all classes in both public and private schools and work in government offices in the National Capital Region (NCR) due to the bad weather.

"The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads," the Palace said.

No wind signal is raised at this time.

Below are the LGUs that announced class and work suspension apart from NCR:

Cagayan: Aparri (classes in all levels; public)

Rizal (classes in all levels; public and private)

Bulacan: Hagonoy (classes in all levels; public and private)

Pampanga: Angeles (classes in all levels; public and private), Masantol (classes in all levels; public and private)

Pangasinan: Dagupan (classes in all levels; public and private), Alaminos (classes in all levels; public and private)

Benguet: (preschool to high school; public and private schools)

Abra (classes in all levels; public and private)

Negros Occidental: Bacolod (classes in all levels; public and private)

Bataan (classes in all levels; public and private)

Zambales: Subic (classes in all levels; public and private)
