Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 27) — Over 21 million students have enrolled for the upcoming school year, according to the Department of Education (DepEd).

In an advisory posted on the agency's Facebook page on Saturday, DepEd said as of Aug. 25, at least 21,029,531 learners have registered for the school year 2023-2024.

Most enrollees are from Calabarzon (3,323,943), followed by the National Capital Region (2,437,041) and Central Luzon (2,394,421).

DepEd says enrollment will continue until Aug. 26 as classes in all public schools will start on Aug. 29.

Meanwhile, private schools may choose to start classes "not later than the last day of August" pursuant to Republic Act 11480, the DepEd said.
