15 Filipino cyclists hurt in hit-and-run incident in Kuwait
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 27) – Several Filipino cyclists in Kuwait were hurt after being hit by a car along the Arabian Gulf Road, the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Saturday.
A local radio station reported that at least 15 males were injured after a car rammed into a group of 30 Filipino cyclists on Friday morning.
The DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has already checked on the victims to provide necessary assistance and their kin were already contacted.
The DFA also said the services of a lawyer have been secured.
However, according to a report by the Kuwait News Agency, the cyclists were traveling along the main road without permit.
The DFA said the culprit has already surrendered to the police.
“It may be premature to conclude that the perpetrator was targeting a specific group of nationals. There is need to wait for the result of the investigation,” the agency said.
