Czech Republic eyes more jobs for Filipinos, to increase visa issuances in 2024
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 24) – The Czech Republic is optimistic that more job opportunities will be available for Filipinos now that the Czech Republic and the Philippines recently agreed to strengthen economic and business ties.
In an interview with CNN Philippines, Czech Ambassador Jana Šedivá said that there are already job opportunities for some technical skills and expertise available in the Central European country.
“We have a special program for working experts and we issue 2,000 visas every year, and this is for concrete professions like electricians and technicians,” the envoy said.
Šedivá also said their government is now discussing plans to increase the number of visas being issued to professionals.
“It’s going to go up every year. So, there can be 5,000 working visas for experts in 2024 and now it’s being discussed in our countries,” she added.
Apart from possible job opportunities, the Czech Republic also expressed willingness to share its expertise in the areas of agriculture, food security and even milk processing technology.
“Concrete cooperation between our companies and experts; we want to let Filipinos know about what we can offer,” she said.
Transportation is also another area both Manila and Prague can explore together, with the Czech ambassador highlighting their efficient transport system.
“We are also very good in transportation and you know in smart cities. We have subways, trains and buses for instance, and maybe our know-how can be offered not only in Manila but also for Davao and Cebu,” the envoy added.
The Czech Embassy in Manila recently held a book launch depicting the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
