Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 24) — A magnitude 5 earthquake jolted the municipality of Kiamba in Sarangani Wednesday morning, state seismologists reported.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tectonic tremor was recorded at 1:04 a.m.

Intensity 4 or "moderately strong" shaking was felt in T'Boli in South Cotabato, while intensity 3 or "weak" shaking was recorded in Koronadal, Suralla, Banga, Tupi, and Lake Sebu in South Cotabato, Esperanza in Sultan Kudarat, and Don Marcelino in Davao.

Intensity 2 or "slightly felt" shaking was felt in Norala, General Santos, Tampakan, and Isulan in South Cotabato and President Quirino in Sultan Kudarat.

The municipality of Maasim in Sarangani experienced Intensity 1 or "scarcely perceptible" shaking.

Phivolcs warned of aftershocks but said no damages are expected.
