Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 29) - The De La Salle University Dasmariñas will increase police visibility inside its campus and nearby vicinities after one of its students was found dead inside her dormitory on Tuesday.

"Safety marshals from the school will be deployed off-campus in the vicinity of private dorms and other establishments frequented by students," La Salle said in a statement Wednesday

The university added that it will collaborate with the local government in conducting a thorough inspection of dormitories near the campus.

La Salle said they will also "work closely" with the family of the student and the authorities in investigating the case.

According to reports, the student was found dead in her dormitory at Barangay Santa Fe in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Students were also reminded to take safety precautions whether they are in their homes or outside the campus.

"Set your gadgets to readily respond to emergencies [and] inform trusted persons of your location," La Salle said.

"As much as possible, be with trusted friends and classmates while investigation of the incident is ongoing," the university added.

According to La Salle, counseling and debriefing sessions were provided to the academic community.
