SOJ: Rep. Teves among the suspected masterminds behind Degamo assassination
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 27) – Negros Oriental 3rd district Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. is among those being considered by prosecutors as masterminds of the assassination of former Gov. Roel Degamo, Justice Secretary Boying Remulla disclosed.
In an interview on Monday, reporters asked Remulla if the suspected masterminds behind the killing of the Negros Oriental governor were within reach or if they could be contacted.
“They can be contacted I think, they’re always on social media. Meron nga yung isa nag-text sa akin diba [one of them even texted me] I told you last week, Congressman Teves texted me,” Remulla said.
“They’re [Teves] being considered as masterminds but I don’t know yet I have to get it from the panel of prosecutors. But right now, the way it’s progressing, that’s the direction we’re heading to,” he continued.
One of the suspects in the shooting earlier named “Congressman Teves” as a mastermind behind the assassination.
Remulla said the Department of Justice was considering at least two masterminds behind the assassination.
“Three, maybe four? We don’t know yet we have to get our facts together, pero at least two, maybe three,” he added.
Meanwhile, he also revealed that there had been two failed assassination attempts on Degamo before one succeeded last March 4.
